Acute Care - Treatment for illness or injury that requires hospitalization for approximately 2 days or longer. Requirements for acute care may include conditions that affect the brain, heart, lungs, and kidneys; wounds, diabetes, infection, etc.
Observation - Observation is a short-stay admission usually less than 24 hours in duration, this allows our team the necessary time to evaluate and treat the illness/injury.
- Chest pain not related to heart muscle damage
- TIA's or Stroke-like symptoms
- Infection expected to improve quickly with 2-3 doses of IV antibiotics
- Pain expected to be controlled in under 24 hours
- Non-obstructing kidney stone expected to pass quickly
- Blood sugars expected to be within normal range in under 24 hours
